About Body Matters

Body Matters is a program dedicated to helping your children and adolescents develop a healthy relationship with food.  Childhood feeding issues range from the picky or finicky eater to the child overweight.

Childhood/Adolescent obesity is a problem reaching epidemic proportions. A variety of factors can and do contribute to this growing problem. Early intervention is the best way to prevent eating disorders and years of struggles over weight management into adulthood.

Our program offers thorough assessment, recommendations and treatment for your child and entire family.  Customized treatment plans are offered to meet the unique needs of your child and family. Body Matters has also developed a structured 12-week intensive out-patient (IOP) program conducted in a caring, safe environment where adolescents can become aware of their feelings and learn to manage life’s issues without using food to cope. Body Matters believes treatment must be a collaborative effort in which active involvement from the entire family is essential to the solution!

Our goal is to steadily improve the physical and emotional wellbeing of children and adolescents in a non-judgmental environment that emphasizes peer acceptance and support. Our top priority is to promote a strong sense of self-worth while building healthy minds and bodies. Body Matters employs a non-diet approach including group support, family therapy and education, nutrition counseling and exercise guidance. Parents are offered a support group of their own and families are encouraged to join together to GET MOVING!
